Touring 2

Back to the act of touring like some lost tourists, hehe. This morning at around 9 o'clock, I was already on my way to cross waters to reach "Ngor". It's an island.. when I got there things weren't all that special. I was told that it was too early in the morning to be seeing any other tourists.. so it was rather spacious. What was interesting for me is the experience I got to get by sitting on the traditional fishermen's boat. Ihiehe.. it was a lot of fun! Scary.. but it felt so different. I was basically at the ocean's water level!! We had to fasten life vests though.. The good thing was that the tides weren't that high today,, I heard that when it is.. all you can feel whilst on it are jolts! Vulnerable to being sea-sick!! We didn't spend too much time there, only about 30mins. After that.. we were off to "Mbur"- a touristic spot with it's famous group of hotels.
It was lovely there,, totally a unique style. We would drive into some sort of area with literally tons of hotels from all point of artistic structures. With the ocean at maximum eyes' view.. it felt so rich and relaxing.. After having pleased myself of admiring the area, we had a nice lunch.. and then we were ready to drive back home. It was a really fun day, enjoyed it to the fullest!

Hm?

Today I went out under the boiling sunshine to town. There were tons of people there, way too crowded. On the way, I was taken aback at the fact that the french speaking chauffeur started to comfort my mom [after her being persistent in telling me to speak to him] by listing things about how girls will become 'boisterous' once they get married. lol. It was funny actually.. I became the subject of their convo.. what an ackward situation. Nevertheless, I admired his way of thinking.. and also admired his rare view on us 'mute' people.
Came home.. feeling so damn tired. The climate's changing, making a lot of people sick. The most common disease is malaria.. hmm, spooky indeed. God my eyes are so stiff and all I feel like doing is closing them and go to bed as early as possible. Can't do that tho.. still have something to do tonight. I'm so happy yesterday I got in touch with an old colleague of mine in Indo! Whoaa... gosh it was really weird coz eventhough we were in one class, we basically never talked to each other! He's the guy which always sat at the back row, doing what all guys do in highschool, ihiehe. Anyways, I'm so happy that time has still given me the chance to pick up where I left off, and fix things. It meant the world to me, literally. I also saw pics of their graduating ceremony.. which made me kinda sad actually- I should've been one of them. But what the heck.. what's done is done *winks at abang* hehehe.. If ever you're reading this bro I'm so happy for them, and above all I'm proud of them.

Life = Paradox

Proud to be a loser. Though highly paradoxical, I think it'd make a great title for a song. Life = Paradox ; lol. I feel like I'm back in literature.
Shocked that yesterday somebody added me on msn. I mean.. who the heck would add another contact nowadays So I knew it was one of my long lost friends. To my surprise.. it was cynthia. A girl I once knew aaages ago, back in Canberra. Gosh! She was only 4 when I knew her.. so for her to actually remember me, and add me.. that was a really sweet break. I saw her photo.. she sure has changed.. she's around 11 now.. My oh my.. she looks so sweet! Ihiehe.. so nice to know that people are moving on with their lives. Not that we really have much of a choice anyway.. So many memories were brought back at that instant.. It was really me that was excited reciting all of the nostalgic moments.. but I'm glad I did it..
You know.. you can only help someone if that someone lets you. I think that's fair enough. I got a message from a friend, long after my long expressed email which built a strong shield ever since. Anyway.. I'm so thankful for the message. The only reason I can't accept how she is now is because I knew who she was. I can't advance anymore.. All I can do now is tell her that I'd stay where I am.. and that I'd be ready to accompany her whenever she decides to retrace her steps. I know you're not reading this, but if you do.. you know who you are. That's my thought.. if you guys ever come to stop at it. Life's too short to learn from your own mistakes. You also have to learn from others'.

Another thought

Simplicity and modesty. Two words combined to form the almost perfect adjective to describe one's character. It's divine-,, at one point or another, humans would undoubtedly need to bring themselves out to the surface in hope of being recognised. It is a need, so it is bound to happen at least once in our lifetime. For it is a basic thing that all human kind are expected to act-out, then we should not try to run away from it now, should we? It is the same as simply stating that all living things shall perish in the end.

I haven't done a single useful thing today. There it is, 24 hours down the drain. Got a serious call, some parasitic disease is endangering one of my auntie. Doctors have all given up, forcing her to look at all other alternatives. I don't know whether that's the cause of my distraught mood which is clearly reflected in today's entry. Gomennasai-ne. Another breaking news, my cousin is at the state of divorcing. He has a little boy.. wonder what it'd be like for him. Words can't express. I haven't been the best niece or cousin in any of the two cases,,, but I can't help thinking that what's happening to them, will also happen to me. Harsh reality makes you want to believe that you're dreaming, hein.. But at the end of all dreams,, you will have to wake up.

Hmm.. the next thing I'm about to tell you is not exactly what had happened over the last 24 hours, not directly at least. My mom and I were discussing on how to recreate a peaceful environment between new strangers and I. Boff.. big deal. Everytime this subject comes up.. I just don't know how to defend myself! Maybe it's because I know that I'm wrong^^;; Well well.. what else can I say. I'm still waiting for that day in which one can honestly be attracted to an inner personality. This reasons more to a romantic relationship, but it can be applied to all types in my opinion. Mutual understanding is the golden key, I agree.. but well.. it's not easy. My ignorance bids a strong defensive reaction to the outer circle.

My parents decided that full house stay wasn't the best. They took us out for fresh air.. cool treat. Had dinner.., still in search of the best thing to be doing, express or stay mute.. what's going on on the other side? I don't have a single clue.. whoa!

Back from The Gambia

Aaaah... I'm baack!!! So good to be baack! whoa! Just got back around 2 hours ago from Banjul, The Gambia. Ihiehe, most of you probably never have even heard of the city- but it exists! So check out your atlases Anyways, I spent most of my time either in the hotel or just outside of it, tasting from one resto to another.. day-to-day. It was tiring... but not too bad as experience. I wasn't to expect more anyway! I was on my vacation having a vacation, ihiehe.. rather weird.

Apparently, many vip guests were at the same hotel- some presidents, member of cabinets all around africa mostly. Quite cool, got to see a lot of 'important' people. They were there in respect to Gambia's national day. A lot can be complained, including the numerous soldiers that seem to be quite successful in freaking me out every night. I would walk back to my room after dinner, and under the creepy moonlit, somber shadows.. they're there. Barely unnoticeable.. ckck,, eugh, what's with the riffle? But I guess 'vip' guests are to be respected, honored and mostly secured.. whateverr.. It was just too freaky and intimidating!
It was okay though.. unconciously blurted out something I shouldn't have said, but.. the journey and experience was fine. I want to embrace time that seems to swift forever more rapid now that I'm back in Dakar. Hope everything will be just fine. Amin to that.

Pool Party!

Had a small pool party today, just then. It was mad fun! Splashes everywhere, laughter.. at that moment, time seemed to freeze- erasing reality, and gleefully taking me away from earth. It was a really nice experience! I was really happy :)

-Hazard: change of mood-

Mom and dad called an auntie of mine, who's having her birthday today. It reminded me of another friend's bday, but I guess miles have proven to be a strong factor in deciding which way it goes. Her phone number I left in paris.. not that we were the best of friends, but hey- just thought it would be nice to say 'hello'. So yea.. got news that certain people have passed away- I don't know them.. but it still gave me the total mute period. Anyway.. got side-tracked there. The phone conversation led to the most sensitive subject of all time.. ihiehe. I don't know.. I'm just tired of ppl's judgement, I guess.

The evening, I went out for a bit, tried to catch some fresh air. Tomorrow, I'm taking the flight to Gambia in the morning: 35 mins. I just want to cherish this summer to the most minute detail. You can expect my next blog in a week's time. Farewell for the time being..

In the heat of vacation...

In the heat of vacation, ihiehe.. it's quite hot here! Instead of the app. 10 hours active day (for those who are lucky enough to be in a cooler geo location of the world), Africa - for me- only uses 5 hours of the 24 hours given, for all activities to be done in one day. Starting from 9am through to 1pm. Go further that that and you'll be literally deep fried outside Hahaha.. naah, I'm exaggerating.. It's not that bad.. but it's bad, ihiehe.. mia, make up your mind! Anyways,, yea.. it's a maximum of that many hours spent outside the residence, and basically the rest indoors.

New plans to visit Gambia, a country 'sandwiched' by Senegal. Well for one thing they at least speak english there- although I heard that it's a mixture with their national language^^;; I'll leave on Sunday and come back Saturday the next week, I hope. My parents are the ones that are obliged to go for some reason, but since my status is on 'vacation'.. so why the hell not iheihe.. However this does not change the 5 hours I mentioned above*sighs* Let's see how it goes, hein.. Wish me luck guys! Still missing y'all, hehe..

My view on shopping.. w h a t ??

Whoa.. it's been a long time since I've admired someone! Someone that has such a simple view on things.. gawsh, after all these times! I can't believe that kind of person still exists! Hmm.. ..

Went for a bit of shopping with mom today.. I think I'm beginning to feel my mom's irritation on my shopping habit. I don't shop a lot, au contraire.. it's one of the things I don't like. I guess it's a moody thing- I appreciate things more when I buy it out of the blues. Living independently for a couple of months should've done the job of changing that part of my habit, but I guess it didn't. Groceries I can take.. but buying other stuff burdens me, really. Besides the thought of spending money on something unworth, I'm not able to see myself with the thing- for example. Gifts are different however,, it's the story behind that gives it a different value. Anyways.. I'm glad that today I managed to let mom buy me something *ffiuh* Everything I buy never comes from my money anyway, ihiehe.. so naturally speaking, they're all gifts. And yes- I do appreciate them, a lot.

sometimes.. you just wanna go back to the place, where everybody knows your name, and you know they're always glad you came! hehe, I can't get this song out of my head! It's from one old tv series.. "Cheers" I think. I haven't watched it.. just took in the ad

St. Louis

Hi. Came back from my short trip to St. Louis at around 21.30 last night, by the chartered bus. The beach was spectacular, if not fabulous. Right in front of my room were the soft crystal sand, in harmony with white waves over the Atlantic Ocean. The 5 hour trip wasn't too bad.. I was constantly at the excitement of talking with my 'little friends' who kept changing from time to time next to me. I saw various personalities in such young souls! One 7 year old was way too intelligent to let me doze off^^; None of the talk made any sense.. well, maybe very few. From one extreme, to another.. for some reason the most discrete little girl approached me and sat by me. One by one she answered my questions. I didn't want to annoy her- I guess she has had too much of that from others. One way or the other, I felt like I understood her. Such a pure sweetheart

Just a thought..

I've written today's blog when I realised that xanga was having their maintenance- thus my full effort entry was rendered void. I've mostly forgotten the things I've written..ckck. I've just got up from the house pool, "playing" water. Ihiehe.. yup, I was mostly just doing myself a favour and having fun! The water was deep.. the deep end of the pool is nearly 3 meters in depth! Plan to go to St. Louis up north of Dakar tomorrow and spend the night there. I hope it'll be fun. Evidently I won't be updating till Monday, or Sunday night at the earliest. Don't miss me^^;; *oh who am I kidding* ihiehe..

Today was an ordinary day.. woke up and basically just dragged my drousy attitude, wasting the morning. Suddenly it's lunchtime again... together at the round table.. again. It's funny how time just zip like that. French tutoring seem to always find time during my long but short vacation. If you follow me.... Well, hope vacation's getting better in other continents I certainly don't need anymore tan here *sighs* I'm just glad I can experience Africa. I was too young when my parents brought me to Antananarivo- I guess that could go into my list of regrets, but it'll appreciate me not to. However, I know I'll always be glad to have had the opportunity of setting foot in Canberra; and not to sound divine or anything.. but that's for sure. 54 Endeavour Street, Red-Hill, ACT 2603- my "home". Hm.. as for Paris, maybe I'd say the same in 5 years time.. don't blame me, afterall everything needs time.

-Indigo children-

Ever heard of indigo children? Indigo is a colour which is a mixture between blue and purple. I was sent a fairly interesting forward on this a couple of days back.. (sorry, they're in Indonesian- I would have to spend 3 nights to translate them, ihiehe) They have something to do with human evolution, children with 'supernatural' powers, the ability to see the unseen; to put it in simple words^^ They're being named indigo children has something to do with a scientific experiment which shows indigo aura around these children. Just thought I'd share this with you guys.. I mean, to be honest, somehow it just doesn't click for me- but if it's proven with scientific facts.. I guess my opinion will rest mine only. People have the tendency to block out the things they don't want to confront, as long as they can anyway. However if the problem is literally shoved in your face, humans will then confront. I guess that's the advantage or disadvantage of being hot-blooded humans, whichever way you want to look at it ihiehe..

Election!

Been absent for 2 days, fortunately life has continued for me. Indonesia's first democratic election for president was held on the 5th at the embassy. For me, it wasn't a big deal.. politics don't interest me much, it just proves more hypocritical facts tormenting earth. Nevertheless, I was amazed at the younger children. There's something about them that lights up my day. As I've said, social environment plays a major role in shaping most children.. and I guess that the all modern city Paris can never be compared side-by-side with Dakar. Sure the children here are probably missing out on many so-called 'accredited' things- but in my opinion they can always catch up later in their youth.. whilst those who sacrifice their childhood now will never be seen to be mature enough, ever.

Honestly I get extremely annoyed when people underestimate. Evidently, I'm speaking from my experience. I can't explain how exactly.. but it adds pressure as if they were expecting more from you- something more elaborated.. something professional. Not that they'd care in the end anyway. I must emphasise that I'm separating family opinions out of the context. The finest example for my case (and many of yours) would be university majors. Medicine.. (ihiehe, sorry Esther) Law...and what not^^;; Maybe it bothers me coz it tends to re-elevate ambiguity in my head. I don't think so, but it's the conventional pattern of how humans think I realise that judging people is a thing all people do unconciously, but whether we speak it out or not, is a separate issue. I just wish they could realise the hidden potential of words, and the impact it could cause to those who are subjected to it. I guess the only way of realising is to know the individual by person.. and many people lack that. For the better, perhaps..

cliches?

"... It might seem silly to be hearing clichés nowadays in life- but to a certain extent, you can realise that it is true in it's simplest form. I might not be able to discover all in that context in my lifetime.. but for the amount of experience God has lent me, I think I can conclude certain essential things. For the thousandth time maybe today I was driven into the fear of lost. Everyday that passes, is closer to the day I will have to say my goodbye. Some might say I'm a worthless paranoia, but I can assure that I'm not talking about life and death. Have u ever felt so secure and so full of fear at the same time? Held and faced by someone that you've thought all along to be the one guiding you.. and suddenly it just breaks?? It took me a long time to realise that humans are just humans.. we all have fears. Time is just something we live on, inseparable and irreparable. Before we know it.. we're there. The time has chosen for us to take on face-to-face whatever's to come. We were never given a choice. No longer sheltered from the crimsons of life. Just there.. facing what u gotta face.."

Ihiehe.. above are the words of a desesperated being, not to be taken too seriously O! I was chatting with 'Rick'! *haha.. I'm so not used to that name* Gawsh I've missed him^^;; He hasn't been online for so long! What can I say.. he's a persistent guy with a dream- someone without a dream is not much. I've figured out my dream.. I think Hm, as for someone who fails to reach his dreams.. wouldn't that be the same with not having one? Okay okay.. I guess not... -__-" Whatever... ;) I'm such in a haze.. *sighs*

Touring 1...

Looks like I won't regret being cool and calm about the results of BAC! Everybody seems to have done a great job.. Well Done and Congratulations!!!!

Today was a day of touring. At around 9am, we went to Gorée Island by boat. Maybe some of you have heard of it.. this is where slaves were gathered in relation with the slave trade, before transporting them to the New World (US). It was rather interesting for me, since it was a whole chapter in the US history syllabus back at school This island was chosen because of it's strategic location, surrounded by the Atlantic ocean.. making it quite near to America. Yup, I felt rather intimidated whilst crossing the ocean- it's not so much about what's down there.. but it's more about how small the boat was, compared to the multi-shades of blue water around me.

Next stop was Lac Rose. Inevitably, the colour of the water is red- due to the high concentration of salt which they depend on for exporting. It was unbelievable.. there were piles of salt dunes all around, many are big enough to be called small mountains! It's even saltier than the Dead Sea. And yes- eventhough I didn't come around to proving it.. the salt makes the density of the water to be blablabla.. and we float I'll be damned to be the one giving the explanation^^;; Hm.. if only us humans can retain just 1/2 of the information given to us through to the age we are today, it should save us the effort of learning the same things over and over again. I guess one can always argue that the world is perfect because of it's imperfection- ihiehe, whatever THAT's suppose to mean.

attitude : environment (?)

This is bad.. about some hours ago I was fiddling around downstairs with the piano and discovered that I've forgotten 80% of what I've learnt It is disturbing in a sense, coz if I think about it.. it was such a big waste of money, effort and energy! I remember well enough that it was my 11th birthday when I convinced my parents to buy me that shiny looking, maroon piano that has been deserted back home ihiehe.. little did I know..

Matter of factly speaking, the atmosphere of the islamic community here has made me 'somewhat' realise the impact of social environment in shaping me. There are those who are lucky enough in deciding it without the 'help' of their surroundings, but unfortunately those people hadn't included me as part of them^^; The view kinda struck me hard.. ppl here would leave whatever they're selling (without worrying that it might get stolen) and just pray.. Water is a precious commodity here in Dakar.. it tears me to say that they would achieve their obligation to wash-up before praying with a small tea cup of water! How I've taken life for granted!! Ckck... miaa mia..

So, BAC results are out. Wonder how they are? hm..
